JAKARTA-Yayasan Upaya Indonesia Damai or also known as United In Diversity (UID) donated 300 thousand medical masks to the Indonesian National Army (TNI) on Thursday (18/6). The donation received by the territorial assistant of the TNI Commander, Maj. Gen. George Elnadus Supit, in TNI Headquarters Cilangkap, Jakarta. The donation of this mask is intended to be distributed to hospitals, medical workers, and people in need.
The donation to the TNI is part of the 6 million medical masks that have been and will be distributed by the foundation which is co-founded by Gajah Tunggal Group to help the COVID-19 pandemic prevention efforts. Since the beginning of May 2020, UID has distributed more than 4 million masks, among others to the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19, a number of local governments, Red Cross Indonesia, as well as other community. On May 30, 300 thousand masks were handed over to the Indonesian Police.
The President of UID, Mrs. Tuti Hadiputranto, expressed her high appreciation to the TNI, who from the beginning had been involved in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting from the handling of hundreds of Indonesian citizens who returned from Wuhan, early last March, to the provision of hospitals from all three forces, along with their doctors and medical personnel. And now, TNI and POLRI have also been deployed to maintain the order and compliance of citizens in carrying out the prescribed health protocols to enter life to adapt to the coronavirus outbreak.
Mrs. Hadiputranto stated, the donation of medical masks was a manifestation of the calling of UID and Gajah Tunggal Group to be with the TNI, to prevent and deal with the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as the readiness to apply new habits that were healthy, safe, but could remain productive in carrying out daily activities. He also did not forget to promote the medical mask made in the country, he said, smoother, more comfortable, and guaranteed safe.
The mask handover meeting was also attended by Lt. Gen. Ret. Tarub. For him, this was a kind of nostalgic visit to his headquarters first, while serving as ABRI Chief of General Staff (1996-1998). Mr. Tarub is now the leader of a company in Gajah Tunggal Group. He said he was optimistic that the involvement of the TNI and POLRI was guarding new normalcy, community activities could be carried out in an orderly manner and protected from the threat of disease outbreaks, and economic activities could move again.
