15 Years of Building Trust20 February 2019

The year 2018 marks a great milestone of UID’s journey—a 15 year journey of building trust. This year also marks the 10th year of the IDEAS program and UID are constantly looking to organize more cohorts to inspire transformation to many more transformative leaders.

UID’s story is indeed not a short one—it started back in 2003 with the United in Diversity Forum, an international conference held in Bali. UID’s founding members decided something needed to be done to address the immediate challenges that our country was facing. UID Forum was launched as a joint-forum involving MIT Sloan School of Management, University of Indonesia and Sinar Harapan as a collaborative gathering of the government, business and CSO sector (the tri-sectors of society) committed to achieve progress against all odds. With a vision of a united and peaceful Indonesia, UID aims to serve as a catalyst to build trust and cooperation among the tri-sector which now serves as the principle foundation of which UID continues to operate. For 15 years UID continues to carry the same values, vision and mission.

On December 4th 2018, UID celebrated this huge milestone to reflect back at the long journey. It was at this occasion that UID also honored Jane Pratt with the “The Start of Something Big” book launch as well as celebrating IDEAS’ 10th journey with a performance by IDEAS alumni. The event was attended by UID’s extensive list of family members, including Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs, Luhut Panjaitan; Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning, Sofyan Djalil; and the Governor of the National Resilience Institute (LEMHANNAS), Agus Widjojo.

Let us celebrate the 15-year journey and look ahead to 15 more—and beyond!
