Building Unity in Diversity through "Operet Aku Anak Rusun"26 September 2017


DKI Jakarta already has 23 Flats (Rusun) scattered in several areas. Each tower has many positive activities that can be done by all residents according to age group. One form of positive activity is a choir. The choir community that was attended by the residents of the Rusun of the Elderly to the Elementary School is called "Aku Anak Rusun." The Choir Community "Aku Anak Rusun" presents a work on "Operet Aku Anak Rusun" event. This event is initiated by Mrs. Happy Djarot and Veronica Basuki Tjahaja Purnama's who was encouraged and called to develop the talents and creativity of the children of the Rusun residents.

Carrying the theme of diversity, this musical shows that diversity is the wealth of the Indonesian nation. As Mrs Veronica Basuki Tjahja Purnama uttered as one of the initiator of the operet, this operetta is a reflection of unity in diversity. In addition to displaying the diversity of these operas also underscores the traditional culture of Indonesia and the values ​​in everyday life packaged in the strains of traditional and national songs, where at the peak of the show performs 150 players simultaneously. The show involves Indonesian talented musicians such as Soundkestra and the Gloriamus orchestra.

This musical drama is also a form of gratitude from Anak Rusun to the Governor of DKI Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat for the support already given to the citizens of Jakarta. In addition to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, this opera performance was attended by figures from various circles such as Yohana Susana Yembise, Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Triawan Munaf Head of Creative Economy Agency, Titik Puspa, Addie MS, Ir. Tjiputra, Martha Tilaar, as well as government officials of DKI Jakarta and other prominent figures.

Yayasan Upaya Indonesia Damai (United in Diversity - UID), is one of the sponsors who contributed in supporting the this art show. Through this musical drama, it is expected that the creativity of the children of the Rusun residents can inspire many people to channel the expression into useful works, and can be a forum to strengthen the sense of Unity in Diversity in Indonesia, especially in DKI Jakarta.
