UID held workshop on its leadership education program
In coordination with its partners and assistance from a group of students from the MIT Sloan School of Management, the United in Diversity Forum (UID) launched its first workshop on leadership education on 1 February.

Hosted at Kompas newspaper's cultural center, the purpose of the workshop was to introduce to participants our IDEAS (Innovative, Dynamic Education and Action for Sustainability) Indonesia program.
Under the guidance from Professors Otto Scharmer and Peter Senge of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology)—both of whom are experts on cross-system innovation and organizational learning—IDEAS is a 10-month journey that is designed to give Indonesian executives across sectors the leadership capacity to deal with Indonesia’s multi-faceted challenges head-on.
“Building trust and homes are not enough to change Indonesia for the better; we need leadership,” said UID president Rosihan Arsyad in his opening remarks.
“And this is why you are here with us today, trying to build together an educational program that gives young, promising Indonesian executives across sectors that are willing, able, and ready to make Indonesia a better place the capacity that they need to do so.”
Among the participants were representatives from business, the public sector, and civil society, namely:
· Department of Trade and Industry
· Department of Science and Technology
· Department of Finance
· Office of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs
· Garuda Foods
· Unilever Indonesia
· Panasonic Indonesia
· Sari Husada Indonesia
· For-a-Drug-free Indonesia (YCAB) foundation
· Eka Tjipta foundation
· Sampoerna foundation
The first class of IDEAS is scheduled to start in January 2008, and thus we are open to recommendations of participants as well as sponsors and partners.
