Facilitating World Bank's Safeguard Consultations Process

At the end of January 2016, UID assisted The World Bank in facilitating consultancy process of Safeguard Policies phase 3 refining process. This Consultancy phase 3 process was expected to be a two-ways communication forum between the World Bank Safeguard Team from Washington DC., USA with strategic working partners in the world generally and in Indonesia particularly. In this phase 3 consultancy process, the World Bank Safeguard team reported back to their key partners concerning the last phase of refining process of Safeguard Policies in environment and social framework as well as provide opportunity for respond from key partners and discuss 52 identified challenges from consultancy phase 1 and 2.

On the first day, consultancy activity engaged representatives and officials from Government of Indonesia such as National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and number of line ministries whom become partner in project funded by The World Bank. On the next day, consultancy process enagged project management units from Government of Indonesia, and on the third day engaged civil society organizations involved in The World Bank projects.

During the three days consultancy process, UID's facilitator team has guided the dialogue innovatively by applying creative collective process which become a unique competency of UID such as Visual Thinking, Knowledge Cafe Dialogue, Improved Advocacy / Appreciative Inquiries and Theory U. This consultancy phase 3 run well and met the expected outcome by The World Bank Safeguard Team which is obtain concrete suggestions for refining in Environmental and Social Framework of Safeguard Policies.

UID would like to extend appreciation for the trust given by The World Bank Group to be involved in this important process.
