Gajah Tunggal Group Leadership Development Program

As one of the leading economic players in Asia, Gajah Tunggal Group realizes that the challenge for organizations in the 21st century is to enable team members to be not only innovative but also entrepreneurial in order to stay ahead in the industry and thrive in an increasingly volatile and complex business climate. Therefore together with United in Diversity and its training arm, PT Asia Idea, GT Group groomed 27 of its top talents through a Leadership Development Program (LDP) to equip them with leadership skills that nurture collective creative capacity and promote innovation and entrepreneurism within the organization.

In the 3.5-months long program, UID facilitators Dr. Ben Chan, Dr. Shobi Lawalata, Mr. Kemal Soeriawidjaja, and Dr. Rachman Sjarif lead the participants to discover not only technical or practical knowledge (know-what and know-how), but also their Self (know-who). The transformation process started with the first (Foundation) workshop in Jakarta in February 2015, followed by a practice of contemplation and exercise in ideation during the Deep Dive workshop in Belitung in mid-April, and closed with a Final & Graduation workshop in late May in Jakarta. The highlight during the closing ceremony, which was attended by a number of executives from GT Group?s companies, was the presentation of the resulting prototype initiatives by the participants. The emerging change initiatives were well received by the executives, with some expressing hope to see them successfully tested and eventually scaled to become company-wide policies.

In her closing remarks during the Graduation ceremony, Ibu Juliani Gozali as GT Group?s Head of Corporate HR once again emphasized the need for transformation within an organization in order to keep up with the rapidly changing world, and applauded the LDP program as a pipeline for innovation within GT Group while calling for continuation of the program. Likewise, the participants in their feedback reported that they found the program to be highly useful and meaningful and hope that the program can be extended to reach more people within GT Group.
