Trip Report SIROMBU NIAS ISLAND INDONESIA
June 2006

1. Trip Period:
27 June 2006 – 01 July 2006

2. Trip Objective:
Checking Project Progress (number of houses completed + infrastructure + school)
Going thru the check list for each completed houses with Kojo’s Site manager to control the quality of products.

3. Results
Houses:
As per 29 of June 2006, the date of my arrival in Sirombu, the total number of houses completed is 239 houses..
Infrastructure
Roads are quite done but I was asking Kojo to put some gravel on top so that it will not too dusty, especially for the main road.
o Water installation is done. There are water stations installed at the main road (see picture) and also there are some well-points have been built. Water treatment is working and supplying water to the tower which later distributes water to the complex (see picture).

Electrical installation for every house also has been completed. Still missing the connection from the main power (government line) to the complex. We have submitted our proposal to the government five months ago but still no realization. We (UID and Kojo) will continue pushing for this matter.

Septic Tank system has been completed.

School Constructions.
As per 29 June 2006, 35% project progress has been achieved. Estimation date of completion is 28 of July 2006.

House Checklist.
Together with Kojo’s project manager, Mr.Bien Clavio, we have gone thru each house to check its quality. There are a few defects has been found and identified during the process and Mr.Clavio has assigned his crew to fix them.

4. Conclusions

239 Houses in Sirombu are completed and accepted.

5. Next Step:

Handing over the remaining 171 houses to the beneficiaries. Shooting date for this event is 25 of July 2006.

Coordinating the handover event with our local task force members (Delasiga), local authorities, district government officials and Bureau of Reconstructions & Rehabilitation Aceh-Nias (BRR).
 

Controlling the finishing of the school project.

Reporting to BRR and Department of Education once the school is finished.

Pushing PLN (Government Electricity Company) for power connections.

Project’s Inauguration ceremony.

Final report and evaluation.
