UNIVERSITY FOR A NIGHT,
NEW YORK, 2 Nov 2005

Embrace after David Rockefeller presented David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award to James Wolfensohn

United in Diversity Forum would never be if not for the strong support of former President of the World Bank James Wolfensohn’s from the founding stages. Tonight, at University for a Night organized by Synergos Institute in New York City, David Rockefeller presented David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award to James Wolfensohn. It is a meaningful night for UID as it was Synergos Institute and the David Rockefeller family and especially Peggy Dulany, founder of Synergos Institute and Advisor to UID who made the initial connection.

In early August, UID takes pride to be among the first if not the first foundation to move Tsunami victims into their permanent homes in Indonesia. This ‘United in Adversity’ initiative to rebuild the entire village in Sirombu was under the gracious grant of Monaco-Asia Society.

UID U.S. President Jane Pratt, her husband John Shilling from Millenium Institute, UID Steering Committee member Cherie Nursalim, UID Executive Directors Frans Sugiarta and Gina Dharmawan attended the University for a Night and Award ceremony. Guests of sponsored table by Cherie that night include Dr David Ho and his wife Susan and friend of UID Danny Schechter of MediaChannel.org and Vicki Assevero of Globalvision.

On the same US trip, UID team made significant progress with MIT Sloan School of Management deans and senior faculty to bring Leadership Education into Indonesia. UID team also met with UID Advisor Howard Stevenson, Senior Provost of Harvard University, sponsor Kim Samuel Johnson of Samuel Group in Canada, partners Conservation International and Millenium Institute. They also enjoyed memorable visit over Lebaran in Indonesian embassy in DC and with other friends of UID in the US.
