Partnership for Solutions Priorities and Pathways for Sustainable Energy and Deep Decarbonization in Indonesia SDSN Regional Workshop (SEA, Indonesia and Australia / Pacific) UID-SDSN Solutions Indonesia Award 26 - 27 November 2014 This invitation-only workshop is bringing together leaders and experts from academia, government, business and civil society to discuss Indonesia's future energy needs, identify how they can be met in line with decarbonizing the energy system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable development, and to develop plans for collaborative solutions initiatives. The network is in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Energy of Indonesia led by Minister Siti Nurbaya and being organized by Universities Indonesia Research Center of Climate Change, United in Diversity Forum (UID), the Monash University, in partnership with the Carbon War Room, the Australia-Indonesia Centre and the Harold Mitchell Foundation.

Objectives To identify what an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable low carbon future for Indonesia looks like. How can progress towards achieving this future be measured in goals and targets? How does the current UN proposal for the Sustainable Development Goals in the areas of energy and decarbonization align with Indonesia's needs? To identify how Indonesia can realize a sustainable low carbon future. What existing and developing technologies would be suitable for Indonesia's needs? What are the technological, policy, and social challenges of implementing them in Indonesia and of transitioning to a sustainable energy future in general? How could these challenges be overcome? What are the priorities for further work, including what is already out there and what is required for research and what needs to be done? To identify and develop concrete ideas for SDSN to facilitate the transition to sustainable energy in Indonesia. This will include developing ideas for collaborative research, demonstration, and strategic planning projects with participants that will lead to real outcomes. Who needs to be involved and how can we engage them?
