How does L2DP achieve its aim?
This program connects leaders across disciplines, fields of work, and generations to support them in learning how to innovate at the scale of whole-system to address complex challenges in society. Modeled after a successful UID-MIT Sloan School of Management Executive Education program called IDEAS Indonesia (www.unitedindiversity.org), this program offers a unique learning platform that emphasizes Innovation - Dynamic - Education and Action towards Sustainable Economic Development that is socially and ecologically responsible that springs out of a better quality of self-awareness and collective-awareness.
L2DP uses Theory U (www.presencing.com) and other awareness-based approaches and change practices in the areas of strategic and innovative systems transformations, public policy, diplomacy and media handling. The use of Theory U as the social technology that empowers this unique collective learning process is referred to as presencing — meaning ‘to sense and actualize the highest future possibilities’. This program aims to enable high-potential leaders to meet, connect, and collectively create prototypes that explore societal innovation by doing.
All learning activities in L2DP are designed with the following core principles in mind:
1. Across all levels of systems: integrating micro (individual), meso (team), macro (institutional), mundo (eco-system), meta (self-reflection).
2. Across all levels of intelligence: integrating open mind (IQ: intellectual knowledge), open heart (EQ: emotional and relational knowledge), and open will (SQ: self knowledge).
3. Systems Thinking: integrating methods and tools derived from 30 years of organizational learning research and practice to look at events from a systems perspective.
4. Deep immersion: using deep dive learning journey and refined observation and listening practices in order to connect with place-based communities and sites of disruptive innovation and change.
5. Science 2.0: using an approach to leadership and transformative systems change that is deeply rooted in scientific method that “lets the data talk to you”. However, the challenges of this century require an expansion of the concept of science beyond looking exclusively at exterior data (3rd person view) to also examine more subtle levels of human experience by bending the beam of scientific observation back upon the observer (2nd and 1st person view).
6. Presencing: using practices that allow leaders to connect to sense and actualize the emerging future and to contemplate the two root questions of creativity: Who is my Self? What is my Work?
7. Power of Intention: focusing on the fact that all great leadership is grounded in the capacity to connect with the deeper intentions that underlie the human journey, connecting us more deeply with ourselves, one another, and the living world around us.
8. Prototyping: translating intention into action by creating small living examples that allow us to explore the future by doing and by integrating the intelligence of the Head, Heart, and Hand.

What does the program timeline look like?
L2DP takes leaders on a 3.5-months learning journey consisting of 5 workshops (a total of 14 days of in-person meetings), complemented by individual and group activities in the Learning Spaces in-between workshops where leaders will practice their new insights in Personal, Professional, and Societal labs.

About Universitas Paramadina

About United in Diversity
United in Diversity Forum was founded in 2003 by Universitas Indonesia, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Sinar Harapan. It is a not-for-profit organization established with Indonesian leaders from business, government, and civil society. Since its founding, UID’s growth has been an enduring, positive learning process. Through its flagship non-profit program IDEAS Indonesia as well as its work with various companies and government institutions, UID has galvanized leaders from all sectors to come together and agree on concrete actions to address Indonesia’s fundamental problems. UID believes that the best way to contribute to a peaceful and united Indonesia is to build a community that understands the importance of working together across sectors towards socially and environmentally responsible economic growth.

Program Patrons
Dr. C. Otto Scharmer is a Senior Lecturer at MIT and the founding chair of ELIAS (Emerging Leaders Innovating Across Sectors). He also is the chair of the Presencing Institute and a visiting professor at the Center for Innovation and Knowledge Research, Helsinki School of Economics. Scharmer has consulted with global companies, international institutions, and cross-sector change initiatives in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He introduced the theoretical framework and practice called “presencing” in Theory U: Leading from the Future as It Emerges (2007), and in Presence: An Exploration of Profound Change in People, Organizations, and Society (2005), co-authored with Peter Senge, Joseph Jaworski, and Betty Sue Flowers. His 2013 book, Leading From the Emerging Future: From Ego-system to Eco-system Economies (co-authored with Katrin Kaufer), focuses on transforming Society, Businesses, and Self. Prof. Scharmer also recently launched the U-Lab, a groundbreaking Massive Open Online Course on edX.org that reached 28,000 participants from 191 countries around the world.

Dr. Jatna Supriatna is the President of United in Diversity and also currently chairs the Indonesian chapter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The network is tasked by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to find solutions to the most pressing development challenges. The network also gives scientific advice on the design of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). After having finished his Master of Science (1986) and Doctorate degree (1991) from the University of New Mexico, USA, including pre- and post-doctoral at Columbia University in New York, Dr. Jatna Supriatna served as Senior lecturer at the Biology Dept., Director of Biodiversity and Conservation Studies, Coordinator of Graduate Program on Conservation Biology of the University of Indonesia.

Prof. Firmanzah,Ph.D. is an academic from Indonesia. He currently serves as president of the University of Paramadina. Prof. Firmanzah was well known when he was elected Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia (UI) at the age of 32, making him the youngest ever dean of University of Indonesia. Prior to his appointment as Rector of Paramadina University, Prof. Firmanzah served as a Special Staff for Economic Affairs to the President during the administration of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Prof. Firmanzah is also actively giving seminars both domestically and abroad, and has written in more than 20 journals and published several books.

Core Faculty
Dr. Ben Chan is a Senior Learning Facilitator at United in Diversity Forum (UID), Indonesia. He is the local faculty in the MIT-UID program IDEAS Indonesia. Prior to his present position in UID, he was lecturing on Entrepreneurship and Business Creation at the Singapore Management University. Dr. Chan is also the Executive Director of Singapore’s Young Entrepreneurship Center, a human-capital center where young entrepreneurs come to learn the soft-skills of commercial and social entrepreneurship.
Frans Sugiarta is a Senior Learning Facilitator of United in Diversity Forum Indonesia and also a core team member of the Presencing Institute. Frans works with Otto Scharmer, Peter Senge and Ben Chan in facilitating a leadership program called IDEAS (Innovative Dynamic Education and Action for Sustainability) attended by influential leaders from Government, Business and Civil Society in Asia. Frans uses Theory U as the foundation of his consultancy work in guiding transformation processes in companies and organizations. He is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Shobi Lawalata, Ph.D. is a Learning Facilitator and also Division Manager at United in Diversity. She completed her Ph.D. in Integrative Biology from University of California, Berkeley, in 2011, with years of university teaching experience. Since her graduation, she has dedicated herself towards societal transformation through UID’s learning programs. Shobi is a graduate of IDEAS Indonesia program, and has worked with various governmental, civil society, and business institutions to facilitate their learning and leadership.
Dinna Wisnu, Ph.D. is the Director of Paramadina Graduate School and an Associate Professor at Paramadina University in Jakarta, with over 15 years of experience of teaching and researching in various universities and institutions in Indonesia and abroad. She is a co-founder and also Dean of Paramadina’s Graduate School of Diplomacy, which is the first school of diplomacy in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. She is a member of Indonesia’s Association of International Relations Studies (AIHII), America’s Association for Asian Studies based in Ann Arbor, MI, USA, Deputy President of ICWA Governing Board (Indonesia’s Council on World Affairs) based in Jakarta, and Deputy Secretary General of CAPDI (Centrist Asia Pacific Democrats International, an organization connecting politicians with centrist and democratic perspective with civil society).
Jansius Siahaan is an Associate Professor at Paramadina Graduate School of Communication. He holds a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University. Prior to his position at Paramadina University, he has served at the Ministry of Communication Republic of Indonesia, on the PR team of Indonesia’s flagship carrier Garuda Indonesia, and also as the marketing director of Indonesia’s Printing Company.
Bima Priya Santosa is the Director of Paramadina Public Policy Institute and also a Deputy Rector for Operations and Finance at Paramadina University. Mr. Santosa holds a Master’s degree in Financial Management from University of Melbourne, Australia, and holds more than 20 years of experience working with both businesses as well as government institutions, and has more than 10 years of experience teaching at university level.

How to join L2DP?
When?
L2DP program will run for approximately 3,5 months, including 14 total days of in-person meetings divided into 5 workshops, and complemented with “offline” activities where participants will have the opportunity to practice the tools and concepts learned in class in their own environment.
The workshop dates are as follow:
1. Orientation Workshop (3 days - Non Residential): 25 - 27 August 2015
2. Foundation Workshop (3 days - Non Residential): 21-23 September 2015
3. Deep Dive Workshop (4 days - Residential): 19-22 October 2015
4. Prototyping Workshop (2 days - Non Residential): 16-17 November 2015
5. Final Workshop (2 days - Non Residential): 7-8 December 2015

What does it cost?
Enrollment in L2DP costs Rp 30,000,000 (thirty million Rupiah) and covers the costs of:
course material, meals during workshops,and accomodation for the Deep Dive workshop. Participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses to the workshop locations.
Early bird discount of Rp 2.500.000 off the registration fee is available until August 1st 2015.
